ALINA MURESSAN
b. 1977, Romania
Illustrator, draftsman and graphic designer, Alina Muressan emigrated from her native country, Romania, at the age of thirteen. She received academic training at the Madrid School of Art, ESDIP (2004-2007), where she obtained a degree in Illustration and Comics, a profile that was enriched by her time at the Professional School of New Technologies, where she joined his vision the experience of Graphic Design (2008-2009).
Her work develops in painting, illustration and drawing, disciplines that converge in her work, which was evident from her first individual exhibition entitled Moments, a collection of illustrations made with graphite and inspired by everyday feelings and dreams. The exhibition was presented in 2011 at the Italian Institute of Culture, in Madrid, Spain.
Based in Mexico since 2017, she held her second individual exhibition in August 2019. Under the title of Magical Chaos and the result of the impact produced by the diverse scenarios and contrasts of the big city, she presented a collection of paintings that shape a trip through the great metropolis and its mayors. The exhibition was presented at the Espacio Arterial of the University of Communication, in Mexico City.
In November 2019, she participated in a group show at the Mexico City Museum entitled “Paint the city, the painted city”. The exhibition brought together the gaze of twenty-six plastic artists from different generations who have taken Mexico City as the main thematic axis in their pictorial work.
She recently published her first illustrated book entitled Artistically - Grace Kelly and Frank Lloyd Wright (Galobart Publishing, December 2019).
In February 2020, she participated in the Bada MX art fair, in Mexico City.
Her work Xochimilco participates in December 4, 2021 in a collective exhibition entitled “Sonoridad”, the other look at art in Mexico at the Museum of Fine Arts in Toluca. A tribute to the artistic production of women in Mexico from the 19th century to the present day.
In August 2021 replacement of the work Magical Chaos at the España Cultural Center in Mexico.
In February 2022, she carried out her third individual exhibition, “En la punta del guaje”, a trip through the state of Oaxaca and which records her journey as a diary of daily narratives from her particular reality and her vision as a traveling artist. The collection of paintings was presented at the Centro Culturas San Pablo of Oaxaca.
Her meticulously constructed paintings play with the duality between the simple and the complex, between the observer and the observed.
