IAN SHULTS
Ian Shults is a self-taught artist based in Austin, Texas, renowned for his evocative figurative paintings that delve into the complexities of human behavior and societal norms. Prior to focusing on painting, Shults spent eight years as the Lead Illustrator and Head Sculptor at Blue Genie Art Industries, where he contributed significantly to the creation of various sculptures and illustrations.
In 2010, he transitioned to showcasing his paintings, quickly gaining recognition for his distinctive style. His work has been featured in prominent galleries such as the Wally Workman Gallery, where he has held multiple solo exhibitions.
In 2012, Shults was honored as number 35 on the Oxford American's Top 100 Southern Artists list. His art often reflects a bygone era when the sheen of the American Dream dulled, focusing on the dynamic between the patriarchy and feminism.
